Meine Lieben,
Vor 3 Wochen schrieb ich euch meinen letzten Brief. Inzwischen erhielt ich 2 Briefe von euch sowie eure lb. Päckchen mit braunem Kuchen, wofür ich euch herzlich danke. Heute geht [?] und so will ich euch wenigstens diesen kurzen Kartengruß senden als Zeichen, daß es mir gut geht. Ich habe in letzter Zeit allerlei vorgehabt und bin so noch nicht dazu gekommen, euch einen längeren Brief zu schreiben. Er folgt jetzt aber _hoffentlich_ in den nächsten Tagen. Bei uns ist jetzt herrlichstes Frühlingswetter, hoffentlich bei euch auch. Umseitiges Bild stellt das "Deutsche Eck" in Shanghai dar: rechts die "Kaiser-Wilhelm Schule", links die "Deutsche Halle", wo wir Sonnabend den Geburtstag des Führers feierten. Hinter der deutschen Halle ist der Turm der deutschen Kirche zu erkennen.

Shanghai, 22nd April 1940.
Dear loved ones,
I wrote you my last letter 3 weeks ago. In the meantime, I received 2 letters from you as well as your lovely parcels with cookies, for which I thank you dearly. Today, [?] leaves, and so I wanted to send you at least this short post card to show that I am well. I have had a lot of plans lately and thus have not yet been able to make time to write you a longer letter. It will _hopefully_ follow within the next days. We're having the most wonderful spring weather here, I hope so do you. The picture overleaf shows the "German Corner" in Shanghai: the "Kaiser-Wilhelm-School" on the right, and the "German Hall" on the left, where we celebrated the Fuhrer's birthday on Saturday. Behind the German Hall, you can make out the steeple of the German Church.
